I would like users to have access to the CMS on a group by group basis. So that as they change group in the PHPphrojekt menu the CMS updates and displays the data for that group.

Likewise when the user creates documents they would be assigned to the group that He/She is in. A further refinement would be to allow an open posting which is then visible in all groups of which the author is a member.

Ok. I think I can add a configuration option to enable that view. In the (very) beginning of the CMS development that was the default (the view per group), but most users complained, so it was changed. But I think a config option would be fine. Planned for 0.6.2 then.

Ok.

This will be a bit more complex, as currently there is just one field for viewer group. Several viewer groups per document sounds very natural, however it will need a bit more of coding in several places. I will add it, I just need to check the roadmap to set a target version.

Hi Mario

I guess that's the same topic like from the wish-list forum (View by group...).

I am surprized to read that once there was a view-by-group option and now it's gone. For me and my users it's rather opposite. I can't use the CMS as long as everybody can see the all documents. And that's a pitty because CMS is a gread add-on.

Hi Roland,

Sorry for this very late late answer.

By now maybe you already know this. Anyway, just to be sure...

The CMS module can restrict the view of the documents per group, this is: users can only view the documents which viewer group is the same. So, if you belong to group A and one document is set to be viewed only by group C, then the CMS module won't show you that document.

What the CMS module don't do, is to display the documents by group. So, if you belong to group A and group B and there are one document for group A and other doc for group B, the CMS module will display them in the same listing.

In version 0.6.2, I'll add an option so the documents currently displayed are only those of the currently selected group. So, using the same example, the CMS will show you the document for the A group only when you have selected A in the group menu of Phprojekt, and the one for B when you select B from the Phprojekt menu.

Maybe I'm explaining something you already know, if so, sorry. I just want to be sure we are discussing the same thing.

If you have comments, suggestions or questions, Roland, don't hesitate to post. :)

Regards,

Mario A. Valdez-Ramirez
