Hello Mario,
Great idea and I REALLY NEED this program (Thanks!), but I get when I install it, I get:

ERROR PASSWORD MISMATCH

OSCommerce Product Manager, server-side script 0.1.13.

[I downloaded 0.1.2 (Build 342) on XP Professional (int'l, Irish edition), I up to date on all MS updates/patches, and the machine is clean of viruses or spyware~cleaned daily w/numerous recommended programs]

On top of that, when I go to the configuration box and set the SQL data, it replies:
Access violation at address 00560559 in module 'oscpm1.exe. Read of address 000000B0

I checked with my provider (in Prague) and they assure me that the SQL login information I have for their service on their shared Linux server is OK

What should I do next, please? I am not a programmer, but a graphics person and I must somehow struggle to get osC working for us.
Can you help me please???? I am desperate!
Many many thanks,
Charles
:D

In ignorant desperation I click enabled the default SSL Tunnel option on Network2.
It displays below in small type:
plink.exe -ssh -2 -C -l sshtunnel -pw ****** -L 3306:127.0.0.1:3306 xxxxxx.xxxxxx.com
If I click the TEST tunnel button, a DOS box opens with a blinking cursor, but nothing happens inside. Eventually, it closes on its own. Not very exciting!
The hosting provider's Linux man said that the port 3306 was fine...and our SQL ID, username and PW, too...
How about if I find out how to do "remote desktop" on XP and you can look at this from your position? After all, you are the guru who made this program. Please, please please????? Unless you think that this is easily fixable by a newbie like me?!
Many Many Thanks,
Charles

I also get the following error when I go directly to the php-script:
ERROR PASSWORD MISMATCH
OSCommerce Product Manager, server-side script 0.1.13
When I try to connect with OSCPMwin I get the following error:
There was an error while trying to connect to the serverside script. Please check it is installed and check your proxysettings.

Does anyone know how to solve this

Thanks for the compliments. :)

That error is harmless. It means you tried to connect directly to the server-side script using a web browser and the script did not receive any password (which you have no way to send using a web browser). Just ignore it.

Ok.

Does that message appears when trying to connect, when saving the configuration data, when typing it or when?

First let me know when does the "Access violation" message appears. It could be that some part of the application is crashing and it is not even trying to connect to the server.

Relax, it is just a program ! :D

I'll try to help you out, just tell me more about the error message and I'll check what is going on.

Let's forget about the SSH tunnel for now. Later we can try it out.

Yes, I'm thinking the application is not even trying to connect.

Let's leave the "remote desktop" thing as a last option if everything else fails. I think there is something failing but I still don't know enough for a diagnosis.

So, I fisrt need to know if the "Access Violation" error is causing a failure to connect or if it is an unrelated problem. If the AV error may be causing the problem I will need some more information (I will ask you). If the AV error seems unrelated, then we can try to check every detail of the connection settings.

Mario A. Valdez-Ramirez.

As I posted before, that message is harmless if you see it when loading the page directly with a web browser. I really need to change the message because most people think it is an error message, when my intention was to only be informational. :S

First, go to the Configuration window, and check carefully that the URL of the server-side script is correct. Please double-check it, because too many times it is just a little typo causing the problem. The best test is just to copy it and paste it in a web browser, then checking if it loads.

If the URL is Ok, then check that the proxy settings are right. If you are behind a firewall using a web proxy you need to specify it in the Configuration window.

What if you don't know? Well, there is a simple test:
Click on the Start menu of Windows. Choose "Execute...". Type "telnet". The program telnet will load. From there you can test if you can establish direct HTTP connections to any external server. Type the following:

Quote:

Press the Enter key. You should see something like "Connected to www.yahoo.com". Then type the following:

Quote:
get index.htm

Press the Enter key twice. You should see the HTML code of the Yahoo homepage. This mean you are not behind a proxy server (or there is one, but it is a transparent proxy).

If the telnet program just hang there for a minute and returns with a "Connection error" message, then you cannot establish direct HTTP connections and you are behind a web proxy or just disconnected. In this case you can ask your network administrator (if there is one) what are the proxy settings.

Please note that the OSCPMWin application can only use HTTP proxy servers without authentication; it does not support (yet) proxy authentication, SOCKS proxies and also does not support WPAD (web proxy automatic discovery).

If you use a proxy server, then you should specify for what HTTP connections you will use the proxy. Usually, you should select "For all web connections" in the proxy settings in the Configuration window of OSCPMWin.

Please check all this and let us know if you solved it.

Mario A. Valdez-Ramirez.

HI Mario...thanks for helping me jump on this.
:D
Step one: Open program, = 0.1.2 build 342
Click on sockets icon to connect
Reaction:
...Detecting extensions
...Connecting
Error box displays:
Error while connecting to database (taklevnycz1 @ 127.0.0.1)
SQL Error: Can't connect t MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (10061)

[Interestingly, there really_is_a space after cz1~{and}@~{and}127.0.0.1]

You must click "OK" to continue

= totally ~quiet page~, displays "??? mem 78%" and nothing more!
What can this mean, please?
Many many thanks!
Charles

Hi again. The error message you see (10061) means that the OSCPMWin application didn't find anyone listening to that port at that address.

First question, you are connecting to 127.0.0.1 (localhost), do you have mysql in the same computer? Also, if you have enabled the SSH tunnel, disable it for this test.

Second, did you received the Access Violation error or it is gone?

The spaces around the @ in the error message are normal (that's the way MySQL returns the error messages).

Mario A. Valdez-Ramirez.

HI Mario...
Thank you for your kind help!
Yes, there is both mssql and a small version of apache elsewhere on this machine for my trying to develop other versions of the shop.
How do I get your lovely program to go to the provider's server??? That is the issue. Now I understand.
Now when I disable the proxy (which now I realize was pointing to localhost) and disconnect SSH Tunnel,
I get:
Access violation at address 00560559 in module 'oscpm1.exe' Read of address 000000B0
then I get the same error as before but now with code number (10060)
Error while connecting to database (taklevnyca1 @ c162um.forpis psi.com)
SQL Error: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'c162um.forpsi.com' (10060)
I guess the problem really is...
How do I make it look to the real hosting server, all the time?
Many thanks Mario...I am learning!...
Charles

Ok, I've checked the Access Violation address and I think it is something unrelated to the connection problem.

Now, about the 10060 error; it means that MySQL seems to be rejecting (or simply is not listening). What could be the problem? First check the following:

1) Check if MySQL is running (it should if osCommerce is working).
Maybe is not accepting remote connections or the host name is not right (try the IP address).

2) Try to connect to MySQL using telnet just to see if MySQL and the host/port is ok.
For example, if your MySQL server is named "testserver" and is listening to port 3306 (the default), you can run telnet in Windows (using the "Execute..." option in the Start menu). Now that you are running telnet, just type the following sentence:

Quote:
open testserver 3306

The server should answer with something like:

Quote:
(4.0.15aĆ?O'nx2,'},?

meaning it is working.

If shows something like "Connecting... error connecting", then it means MySQL is not running, or it is running but it is not in that host, or your computer cannot resolve the IP address of the host (try the IP address directly), or it is in that host but it has been instructed to refuse remote connections, or there is something between you and the server (like a firewall).

Check that out, Charles. Also read the following posting (as it contains several tips): http://www.mariovaldez.net/webapps/foru ... c.php?t=94

Let me know what you find.

Hi Mario,

I'm testing an installation for a client, and get the same problems.
First the access violation message.
And than the 10060 message.

The last error mesage states that there is an error with the connection, and shows the database_name @ domainname.
They are also divided by a space.

Any news about this?
