Looks like a powerful product, eager to see it work.
installed: osComm Product Manager 0.1.2.436

1) unable to connect for the very first time. I am admin for my mysql oscommerce database with ALL Priviliges. Why do I get message Access denied? How do I connect?

Do I have most recent version of osComm Product Manager ?

I changed configure > Network > database options Host:

from : www.sitedomain.com
to: localhost

Error while connecting to database (username@localhost).
SQL Error: Can't connect to Mysql server on 'localhost' (10061)

reverted back to:

host: www.domainname.com
and went into mysql configuration and added wildcard % to host access

that got me connected but I believe I will opt for more secure access.

Hi. If you always connect from the same IP address, you can use that in the Host field of the MySQL permissions table. If you always connect from the same network (for example, the same IP ranges of your ISP provider) then you can add a Host definition like "68.201.215.%".

If you have a SSH account in the server you can use the SSH tunnel feature of the OSCPMWin application, and leave the Host field of the MySQL permissions table as "localhost". That would be the safest approach.
